Streifzug
Da geht man also
Ulli Mairinger
Festival of politics or art? Who is important at the festivals? Are the numerous
amount of the daily held receptions important, where man/woman (no: lady/sir)
want to be seen or is it still the fascination of the music of old genius
or is it the new wild time, the tumult and the sex-scenes that the media
is interested in? As a plant of the
Salzburger Flachgau I am walking through the town of festival – just to
breath the air of the festival time. I will not visit a festival – no,
that's something the general people from the countryside cannot afford.
Prices are made for the sirs of big companies – because it is important
to be seen. " Ah, this is the man with the star and the competitor.
Yes, that's how you meet people. Oh, this is the consul with wife, and so
on...." And by the way, there is not the correct wardrobe that people
from the countryside have. It would not look good to stand besides of all
the clothes from Lagerfeld or Sotheby's or even Habsburg manufacture and
so many others. It would be great if local authorities would have a
certain contingent of festival cards available for a reasonable price for
people like me. The title could be like: Cultural support of town and c o
u n t r y s i d e. Home again I am reading several articles about Jedermann, Don Carlo, Lulu, Boréaden, Schlachten, Cronaca de Luogo and other curious things like the latest creation of chocolates - the Carolinentruffle which completes the creations of the well-known Wolf Dietrich block, the J.S. Bach block and the famous Mozartkugel which exists now for 109 years. I am reading about the festival at the exhibition center and about Mozart as a plastic figure. All those things are quite interesting, and being honest to myself I must say that I would miss something if the Salzburg festival would not take place anymore, especially as I do not give up hope to be there once really 'live' sometime in the future.
